something a little different

Out side of my drawing class I have been much looser with my drawings and have been surprisingly pleased with the results. Enough to try and make them into prints. It's a completely different approach to the plate than I'm used to, which is very much a good thing.
So here are a few in progress prints; and drawings which may become prints. Check it out, tell me what you think.

first prints pulled as a grad student

I made this stuff over a month ago, I just haven't had the resources to post it. This was how I was feeling, and still am a little bit, at the beginning of the semester.
Untitled, 9" X 11", aquatint, scraping, ala pupe

wait no longer

These are a few drawings I did for a drawing workshop class I'm taking. Both of them are done with graphite pencil as well as charcoal. The two assignments were finding the significance in the mundane, (pine cone) and emphasizing space (the monkey). The pine cone was about two inches big and the requirement was a drawing no less than 3' X 3'. I've never really worked that large so it was a little difficult..not to mention tedious. The monkey is about 3' X 4', there was no size requirement, however when conveying space it's better to have it larger.

wish i was there

A few of the many reasons why I miss La Crosse. These are a few pictures my girlfriend took from the marsh. Those are the kind of days we wait for being midwesterners. Days like these make me wonder why I moved to the desert.....oh yeah, grad school. Days like these remind us not to bitch as Wisconsinites!
